Stimpy, despite his stupidity, appearently has a knack for inventing very strange but functional inventions. But does Ren appreciate this? Not when he's trying to read his newspaper, that's for sure. So Stimpy goes back to the drawing board to invent his most brilliant and demented invention: The Happy Helmet, a device which allows him to control his friends mind and turn him, at least temporarily, into a blissful idiot.

Cuts made by Nick-
A scene where Stimpy raises his arm, exposing a sweaty armpit from which Ren gleefully licks off the fifth didn't make it passed the Nick story editors.

Behind the Scenes Stuff-
"Ren shouldn't be so ugly", Nick execs said in a note sent to Spmc on June 5, 1991, in reference to the "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy" scene.
This episode also took longer than usual from inception to emergence, because many of the crucial gags that made it so good took so long to get approved by Nick brass. The whole cartoon looked several times in the history of it's making like it was doomed. Luckily it survived.
